The iTunes Meme

OK, I’ve been slow to post for the past few weeks, my fingers aren’t working well yet…  here goes the iTunes-meme.

Total Songs:  712 songs, or 2.8 days worth.  Keep in mind that my iTunes/ iPod thinks a movement from a symphony is one song, and one Mahler symphony often has over 20 movements on a digital recording… and I have ALL the Mahler symphonies loaded on this puppy.  Woot!

Sort by song title, first and last:  Aaj Mausam Bada Beimann Hai (Today The Weather Plays Tricks On Me) by Laxmikant Pyarelal (from the Monsoon Wedding soundtrack) and 1952 Vincent Black Lightening by the Del McCoury Band

Sort by time, shortest and longest:  Theme from Flood (:27) Flood (Album); They Might Be Giants (Artist) and Finale (22:38) from Symphony Number 4; Anton Bruckner (Composer).

It’s a very good thing I haven’t loaded any Wagner operas on the ol’ iPod just yet (I just have some highlights).  Although it’s the largest capacity you can get for an iPod, it would probably explode.

Sort by Album, first and last:  Aijalon, Johnny Richards (this album is a 1984 re-release of Something Else) and Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks, Richard Strauss (Composer); Cleveland Orchestra/ George Szell (Artists).

Sort by Artist, first and last:  Ali Akbar Khan is first.  Yo-Yo Ma is last.

The top five most-played songs:  This is all over the place.

  1. Frank Zappa, Joe’s Garage (Album)  The Central Scrutinizer, Catholic Girls, and Why Does it Hurt When I Pee? (these three tracks tied for first place – this explains probably explains a lot about me!)
  2. Gustav Mahler, Symphony No. 5, 1st Movement
  3. Henry Mancini, The Blues and the Beat (Album), The House of the Rising Sun (Track) – It’s my main man Vince De Rosa on the French Horn!
  4. Arnold Schoenberg, First Chamber Symphony
  5. The Traveling Wilburys, Rattled (From Volume I)

How many of these words show up in the song’s title?
Sex: 3
Death: 3
Love: 22
You: 24
Home: 1
Boy: 2
Girl: 5

Keep in mind, this includes several different languages besides English, like French, German, Hindi, etc.  No wonder this took a bit.  My Urdu is a bit rusty as well.

List the first five songs that come up on Party Shuffle:

  1. Band Aide, from Aijalon (AKA Something Else) (Album), Johnny Richards (composer); the Johnny Richards Big Band (with a smokin’ 19-year old Maynard Ferguson  on lead trumpet – RIP my friend – also the fabulous Vince De Rosa leading the French horns)
  2. Chunari ChunariAbhijeet and Anuradha Sriram (Artists), Anu Malik
    and Sameer (Music and Lyrics)
  3. The Lady is a Tramp, Ella Fitzgerald (Artist), Rodgers and Hart (Music and Lyrics)
  4. Love is a Long Road, Tom Petty (AKA Wilburys Volume II, hee hee)
  5. Bottle Let Me Down, Emmylou Harris (Artist), Merle Haggard (Music and Lyrics)

OK, I think that covers all the questions.   Now we go back to our regularly scheduled rants.
