Seven days to go… and counting

I thought this kind of stuff just happened in Office Space, but once again, I’ve been flabbergasted by the fact that Mike Judge really seemed to know what he was talking about when he made that movie.

…and no, I didn’t forget the cover for my TPS Report.

The annoying and unethical co-worker I mentioned in a previous post?  Guess what?  She’s been PROMOTED.  Showing up late, leaving early, doing nothing, complaining all day, conducting personal business on company time… hey, it looks like I’ve discovered the secret to being promoted around here. Since this is my Clark Kent job, though, I’m content to keep my head down and my mouth shut, for the most part.  I really don’t want a promotion; like many people, I just want to be left alone so I can do my job.  It’s a balance… I want to do a good job but I’ve also learned not to be too good at what I do, because then the balance gets whacked.  No longer would I have time for the things in my life that are important since my work ethic and competence would quickly have me working overtime on crap projects.

I just wonder how long it will take her new employers to figure out her M.O.  All I can say is THANK GOD that she is seven days away from being someone else’s problem.  She keeps alluding to some sort of congratulatory party, and a well-meaning co-worker asked if anyone had suggestions for her send-off… all I could offer was a catapult (to expedite her departure) and a tube of Preparation-H (for her future boss).  No one else has been able to come up with anything quite as appropriate, so we’re going to leave it at that… unless I can get the award below delivered in the next week.

  1. So, have you heard anything from her & her new gig?

  2. Yeah, she still turns up around here like a bad penny. Thankfully, she doesn’t talk to me at all. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. 😉
